3 Bills passed in Odisha Assembly amid din over Mahanadi issue

Amid continued din created by the opposition Congress and BJP members over the Chief Minister's statement on the Mahanadi issue, the Odisha Assembly today passed three bills within 15 minutes without any debate.

The three bills were The Odisha Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015, The Odisha Grama Panchayats (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

While state housing and urban development minister Pushpendra Singhdeo moved the The Odisha Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015, state pancahyati raj minister Arun Kumar Sahoo tabled the Odisha Grama Panchayats (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
 

State health and family welfare minister Atanu S Nayak laid the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2016 before the House and got it passed.

This apart, state parliamentary affairs minister on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also laid the Odisha Official Language (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016.

State finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat also moved three motions and ensured the adoption of the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's reports.

The Bills were passed when the entire opposition was in the Well, said Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra.
