3 booked for disrupting gram sabha meeting

Three villagers have been booked for allegedly disrupting a special meeting of a gram sabha in the district on August 15, police said today.

As per the complaint filed by gram sevak of Bhokri village Abhay Bhere yesterday, when the meeting was going on, the trio tried to snatch the mobile of a villager who was recording its proceedings, Thane District Police said in a statement.

The accused Umesh Kathore, Suresh Gorle and Ganesh Gorle also started shouting during the meeting. Following the disruption, the meeting was abruptly called off, they said.

A case under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of IPC was registered at the Padgha police station, police said, adding investigations were underway.
