Three Chinese nationals have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valued at about Rs 2.1 crore at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.
The trio were intercepted here by customs officials after their arrival from Hong Kong yesterday. On detailed examination of their baggage and personal search, gold hidden in belt buckle, chain made of small beads and dummy watches, concealed below T-shirt worn by them was recovered, a press release issued today by the customs said.
The gold weighing about eight kgs was seized and the three Chinese were arrested, it said.
The value of the seized gold is assessed to be Rs 2.1 crore, the release said.
