Three Chinese nationals were killed and another two are missing after an attack at their apartment in Kabul, the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan said today.

The crime occurred in an apartment building in the Afghan capital yesterday and was believed to have targeted Chinese citizens, the embassy said in a statement.

No other details were revealed about the attack.

The embassy has urged the Afghan government to take all practical methods necessary to investigate the crime and arrest the criminals, and ensure the safety and security of the Chinese citizens and institutions in Afghanistan, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

China has big investments in Afghanistan and is apprehensive about the security situation in the war-torn country as US plans to pull out its troops next year.
