: Three college students have been arrested for attempting to steal some articles from a silversmith at Namakkal, police said.
They said the silversmith had taken the anklets from the residence of a small scale unit owner last night for polishing when two of the students on a bike intercepted him and tried to snatch the bag.
The man threw it back into the compound of the house and shouted for help. Workers in the unit and locals then caught hold of the students and also his friend following him on another bike.
Two of those arrested hail from Kerala, police said.
The trio were produced in court today.
