3 cops felicitated for helping woman deliver baby

Displaying the humane face of Delhi Police, three policemen helped a woman deliver her baby inside a patrol van.

For the act of saving the lives of the mother and the newborn on Wednesday night, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi today awarded 'Asadharan Karya Puraskar' with cash reward of Rs 10,000 each to Head Constable Laxman and Constables Amandeep and Haresh.

"The PCR staff had shown an extraordinary sense of timing and initiative by immediately putting the woman and her family in PCR Van for taking them to the nearest Hospital," said Bassi.

"On patrol duty in Mubarakpur Road in Kirari area the three cops, staff of the PCR Van came across a worried looking person around 3.30am. On inquiry, it was found that his car had broken down on the way to hospital and his wife was having serious labour pain.
 

"Without wasting any time cops immediately took the woman along with her husband to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Mangolpuri, Delhi but on the way, she gave birth to a female child in PCR Van," said a police officer.

The couple Pradeep Kumar and Suraj Mukhi, residents of Gaurav nagar, expressed their gratitude of the police.
