'Sagar Kavach,' thethree-day long coastal security exercise, will be conducted for Kerala and Lakshadweep islands from tomorrow.
The exercise is a half yearly event with an objective to assess the coastal security mechanism and validate Standard Operating Procedures.
The Exercise will be conducted and coordinated by Indian Coast Guard, with active participation from the Indian Navy, coastal police, police special branch,the Intelligence Bureau, Customs, Department of Ports, Department of fisheries,Director General of lighthouses and light ships and fishing community.

The exercise would include mock drill of terrorist infiltration and its prevention to assess preparedness of the participating organisation in the event of a terror attack.
Towards this, the participants would be divided into two crack teams such as blue and red for simulating infiltration into coastal areas and its prevention through intercept followed by neutralisation respectively.
The assets of the the Coast Guard, Navy and other stakeholders of coastal security would be deployed in the exercise to assess the preparedness in event of any infiltration by anti-national elements from sea, he said.
Over a period of time, conduct of 'Sagar Kavach' has synergized efforts of all central/state stakeholders towards establishing effective coastal security mechanism, he said.
