3 dead, 7 injured as speeding truck hits vehicles in UP

Three persons, including a child, were killed and seven injured as a speeding truck hit a number of vehicles one after the other on Kanpur-Farrukhabad road here today.

The truck, coming from Kanpur, first hit passengers getting down from a tempo, injuring four of them, police said.

In his attempt to escape, the truck driver then hit a motorcycle carrying three persons.

The truck then hit another motorcycle, also carrying three persons, killing them on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Sudhir (35), Sonu (40) and Dev (2).

The truck driver managed to escape with the vehicle, police said.
 

Angry over the incident, locals jammed traffic on the GT Road here for about three hours.

Senior district officials rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
