3 die of asphyxiation

Three persons died due to

asphyxiation while working inside a deep well in Kansbahal area of Odisha's Sundargarh district, police said today.

Jairam Minz and Chaiti Minz had entered into the well, said to be over 25 feet deep, near Liang well to undertake cleaning operation yesterday but the duo felt suffocated and lost consciousness, they said.

Thereafter, Jairam's son Rajesh who was waiting outside entered the well and he also felt suffocated and lost consciousness after which locals called the police and fire brigade personnel.

"The bodies were recovered by the fire brigade and sent for post-mortem, said Officer In-Charge of Kansbahal Police Station, S Nayak.
