Two children and another person have died of diarrhoea in the past four days in Banvasi area of Anegpur village while several others have taken ill and admitted to various hospitals.

According to Chief Medical Officer, Surendra Vanvasi (40) and two children -- Golu (8) and Kusum (7) -- had complained of vomiting and diarrhoea but instead of providing them with proper medical treatment their family members opted for other means which resulted in their deaths.

A team of doctors has been sent to the village. Bleaching powder and medicines are being distributed, the CMO said.

As per official records, 22 patients suffering from diarrhoea have been admitted to different hospitals in the district in the last ten days though locals claim that there are many more who are undergoing medication.

Residents of Agneypur village, which has been worst-hit, were planning to shift but the situation was brought under control after the arrival of the medical team.
