3 drown in canal in Krishna district

Three persons, including two minor boys, drowned in a canal in Krishna district this morning, police said.

The two minor boys went for bathing in Wyra canal near Vellampalli village of Veerulapadu Mandal today. However, they went into the deep water and got swept away.

A relative of theirs tried to rescue them, but he also got swept away, Nandigama Circle Inspector Y Sathya Kishore said.

Later, the three bodies were fished out by swimmers.

The deceased were identified as - V Arunkumar (12), S Narendra (12) and T Srinivasa Rao (42), all residents of Konathalapalli village in Krishna district.
 

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, police said.
