3 electrocuted in separate incidents in Delhi

Three persons, including a girl student, were electrocuted in different parts of the national capital, police said today.

Triloknath (62) was electrocuted at Rambazar in Najafgarh area this morning after he accidentally stepped in a pool of water which had accumulated following rains last night. Electricity was running through the water because of a live uninsulated wire from a nearby pole, an officer said.

The victim, a retired MTNL employee, had gone to buy medicines when the incident occurred. The body has been sent for post mortem, police said adding, a case of death due to negligence has been registered and probe is on. A dog was also electrocuted at the same spot.
 

A 23-year-old girl student, Ringyam, from Manipur was electrocuted after she allegedly touched the air-cooler at her rented accommodation at Christian colony in Maurice Nagar, police said.

She was preparing for medical entrance examination. Her friend Sunil, who lives in the same building, called police when she did not open the door after repeated calls, an official said, adding police opened the door and found her body in touch with the switched-on air-cooler.

The body has been sent for autopsy and her parents were also informed about it.

In Bindapur area of southwest Delhi, a 21-year-old student, Shahzad, was electrocuted allegedly while filling water in his air-cooler, yesterday. He was taken a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, a police officer said.
