3 employees robbed of Rs 70 lakh

Three employees of a private firm were robbed of Rs 70 lakh by four unidentified armed men at a crowded area in central Mumbai, police said today.

According to police, the three employees were carrying cash of Rs 70 lakh to an another branch of the firm in the same area when a car drew up at Naigaon cross road at Dadar this morning.

Two of the four robbers alighted from their car, broke the window screen of the victim's four-wheeler with choppers before snatching the bag containing the cash from Ashwin Rathod, accountant of the company. Within seconds, they decamped from the spot, police said adding the robbers had covered their faces with handkerchiefs and were also carrying a revolver.
 

The four escaped in their car towards Matunga area.
