Three engineers of the Rajasthan State Power Transmission Corporation have been suspended for their negligence in meeting the technical parameters of the 400 KV at a Grid sub station (GSS) in Jodhpur, which was gutted in a major fire on Monday.

One of the two transformers, which was made operational in 2004, was completely damaged in the incident, causing the corporation a whopping loss of over Rs three crores.

The three engineers, including Superintendent Engineer N C Purohit, Executive Engineer A K Purohit and Assistant Engineer G C Naval were suspended after the Director of the Corporation B N Saini probed the incident.

Saini, in his probe found that these engineers did not discharge their duty diligently and did not keep the measurement of Methane, Ethane and Ethyl as per the prescribed parameters.

The probe report was submitted to the CMD of the corporation yesterday on the basis of which, the three engineers were suspended last evening.

"It was observed in the report that despite this happening for the past two years, these engineers did not take any action to ensure the prescribed measurement of the above-mentioned chemicals, which led to the spark in the station and breaking out a major fire", said a official from the corporation.
