3 firemen hurt while rescuing bird from overhead railway cable

Three firemen were seriously injured while rescuing a bird from a high tension overhead wire near Mumbai Central railway station.

"Three fire personnel were injured after they came into contact with the high tension cable of train last night while removing a bird," Chief Fire Officer Prabhat Rahangdale said today.

The injured personnel, attached to Bayculla fire station, have been identified as Sanjay Kalbhere, Dinesh Sabankar, and Rajendra Bhojane.

The trio having sustained 30 to 70 per cent burn in the incident are in ICU of the National Burns Institute.

"Their condition is stated to be stable. They will be kept under observation for next 72 hours," Rahangdale added.
