3 girls drown in Utangan River

Three girls drowned while taking a dip in a river on the occasion of Rishi Panchami today.

Five girls, aged between 13-14 years, had gone to take a dip in Utangan River in Rajakheda, police said, adding, one of the girls, identified as Juhi, slipped into deep water following which two other girls -- Mina and Puja -- went deep into the river to rescue her.

The two also drowned along with Juhi, they said.

The bodies were later fished out and handed over to their family members, police added.
