3 held for betting on India-Pakistan cricket match: Police

Three persons have been arrested here for allegedly being involved in betting during the India-Pakistan cricket match in the ICC Champions Trophy, the police said today.

According to the police, 98 mobile phones, 60 mobile chargers, two television sets, three set-top boxes, Rs 19,000 in cash and a register were seized from the possession of the accused.

"We have arrested three persons, who were involved in betting on the India-Pakistan cricket match," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Fazilka, Patil Ketan Baliram.

The match between the two arch rivals was played at Birmingham in England yesterday.

The SSP said, following a tip-off, a raid was conducted and Davinder Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Deepak were arrested.
 

However, another accused, Mannu Kalra, was absconding, he added.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Gambling Act was registered in this connection at the Abohar City police station here.
