Three men, including an auto-driver, have been arrested for allegedly being involved in several cases of drugging and theft, police said today.

Auto-driver Sohrab Alam and his two accomplices Muzzafar Alam and Asfaq were apprehended at Ashram Chowk on Wednesday. The incident happened when police signaled the auto to stop but they tried to escape.

"When the auto was intercepted after a chase, a semi-conscious passenger was found in it. He was admitted into AIIMS Trauma Centre and his stolen bag was recovered from the trio," said a police official.

Investigation showed the victim had been picked up by the driver from Badarpur border and the other two had pretended to be fellow passengers heading towards Rohini.

As per the police, on reaching Sarita Vihar one of them offered a cold drink laced with sedatives to the victim.

"This is a gang which targets visitors from outside Delhi. The auto driver positioned himself at ISBTs, railway stations and other border points and his two accomplices would impersonate as fellow passengers. They would later offer the victim drinks laced with sedatives and would rob him of his goods and valuables once he lost consciousness," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) P Karunakaran.

A bag full of clothes and papers of the victim and Rs 300 in cash were recovered from them. Efforts were on to know about the involvement of the accused in other cases, police said.
