Three persons have been arrested for allegedly duping an Ahmedabad-based businessman of diamonds worth Rs 27 lakh, police said today.

Rajat Kumar Aggarwal (35) from Lucknow, Mohammed Umar (40) and 28-year-old Mohsin Mansoori, both residents of Jaipur, have been arrested and diamonds worth Rs 11 lakh recovered, a senior police official said today.

According to police, Sauri K K Shah, a resident of Ahmadabad who runs a diamond business in Surat and Mumbai, had handed over the precious stones worth Rs 27 lakh to Rajat Aggarwal at a shop in Karolbagh on June 1.

Aggarwal, on the pretext of getting the precious stones checked with his brother, escaped from the shop when he had asked Shah to come to deliver the diamonds and collect the payment. Shah had met Aggarwal through his friend Neerav Jani in April.

Shah was introduced to one Deepak Shah by Jani, who in turn introduced him to Aggarwal, saying he also deals in diamonds on a large scale. Jani and Shah also assured the victim that if he would provide diamonds to Aggarwal on credit, he would receive handsome profit, said Alok Kumar, DCP Central district.
