3 held for kidnapping youth

Three men, including a father-son duo have been arrested from outer Delhi's K N Katju Marg area for allegedly kidnapping a 22-year-old youth and sending the injured victim's photographs to his aunt in order to make her pay ransom.

The victim, identified as Karan Chopra was rescued safely by the police.

The incident came to light on Saturday when one Seema Chopra came to KNK Marg Police Station and reported that her nephew Karan has been abducted by two persons namely Shivam Chauhan and Karan Sharma.

"They were demanding Rs 3 lakh and had sent photographs of her nephew Karan alias Kannu on WhatsApp after inflicting injuries on him. She further stated that they are threatening that they will kill him if their demand is not fulfilled," said DCP (Outer) Vikramjeet Singh.
 

A case was registered and investigation taken up. Several teams were constituted and raids conducted at suspected locations.

Shivam alias Monu (21) and Karan Sharma alias Kaushal Sharma (29) were arrested from near Veer Bazar Road, Nangli Dairy, Dwarka, and later, Kaushal's father Bharat Bhushan was also arrested, and weapon of offence (Daraati), used to inflict injuries on the victim was also recovered, Singh said.

During interrogation, Shivam and Karan disclosed that they are unemployed and were addicted to gambling and had lost Rs 3 lakh in it recently. They wanted to recover the amount and hatched a conspiracy and abducted Karan and demanded the ransom from Seema who has a flourishing property business.

They took Karan to Gurgaon and later to the Veer Bazar Road, Nangli Dairy, Dwarka.
