3 held for running fake placement agency

Three persons, including a woman, were arrested today for running "fake" online placement agency in Janakpuri area of West Delhi, police said.

The accused Santosh Mukhiya, his wife Sushma and an accomplice Umesh Kumar were arrested on a complaint registered by a private firm owner Balwant Munjal at Janakpuri police station yesterday, DCP (West Delhi) Pushpendra Kumar said.

The accused were allegedly running online fake placement agencies with different names through a search-service website, he said.

"The accused lured clients through the website and provided them house maids by charging Rs 20,000-25,000. After one or two days, these maids suspiciously disappeared from the houses," he said.
 

The addresses and other contact details provided in the website were found to be fake.

They used one SIM card for a deal and then destroyed it after the deal and also used the mobile phones with an interval of six months, the officer said.

The accused Santosh Mukhiya, who hails from Bihar, came to Delhi and started working as a servant in Patel Nagar and thereafter, indulged in cheating to live lavishly, he said.

25 mobile phones, 10 SIM cards, 10 rubber stamps, letter head of different agencies, pamphlets and cheque books have been recovered from them.

Further investigation in the case is going on as police is looking for arrest of an absconding member of the gang.
