3 held for transporting cows for slaughter

Three persons were arrested from Devlali Camp area of the city for allegedly transporting cows for slaughter, police said today.

Police yesterday rescued a cow and two calves from a small tempo of the accused, identified as Ismail Gadiwala (28), Iliyas Quereshi (30), and Murtuza Don (27), all residents of Kalyan in Thane district neighbouring Mumbai.

Police collected injections, which were allegedly used to sedate the cows, and a nylon rope from the tempo.

The trio were remanded in police custody till December 16, aDevlali Camp police station official said.
