3 held in connection with blast in J-K's Ganderbal

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a low intensity blast inside a park in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir which left five people injured, police said today.

On June 17, the next day of Eid-ul-Fitr, a huge crowd was celebrating in Manasbal Park in the central Kashmir district when their was an explosion in a dustbin there.

The police have arrested three suspects identified as Younis Khan, Irfan Khan and Bilal Mir, all residents of Kondbal Safapora area, the spokesman said.

He said that the accused had kept the explosive in order to spread terror among the general public.

Further investigation has revealed that Younis, Irfan and Bilal had hatched a criminal conspiracy and manufactured this explosive device in Kondbal village by arranging a bottle, adhesive tape, fuse, wick and nitrate mixture, the spokesman said.

 

The accused kept the explosive device inside the steel dustbin. Thereafter, the fuse was ignited by Younis, and the device exploded.

The investigation is on and further arrests are expected soon, the spokesman said.
