3 held with arms; planned to shoot accused in court premises

Three persons were arrested with arms as they had planned to kill a murder accused at the court premises here, police said today.

Naresh, Ravi and Rajiv had planned to shoot dead Pratap Singh, accused in a murder case, while he was being brought to court from jail yesterday, a police official said

The three, however, backed out when they saw the heavy security arrangements around Singh, he added.

Police nabbed the three last evening near Govind Nagar Railway crossing in Krishna Nagar area. A motorcycle, three country-made pistols, 17 cartridges and two blank cartridges were recovered from them.

It was revealed during interrogation that they had planned to kill Singh, the police official said.
