AITA had announced a wild card for Prerna, when she won the national championship but the organisers have given a chance to Rutuja and Prarthana as well for the USD 1,25,000 Royal Indian Open, beginning November 5.

World number 77 Japanese Ayumi Morita, who is the second oldest player to win a WTA crown in Open era, is the highest- ranked player in the field.

Former top-10 player Andrea Petkovic of Germany, Russia's Nina Bratchikova, Donna Vekic of Croatia and Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan are among others in the field.

The winner will take home USD 25000 and 160 WTA ranking points.

"Since 2008, India has not hosted any WTA event and we felt that Indian players were missing an opportunity to watch and play with some of the big names in world tennis, a must for the growth of any player," said Netsurf Entertainment MD Sujit Jain.

"Pektovic, who is making a comeback after a long injury lay-off, has been given a wild card in the main draw and should add glamour to the tournament," he added.

The German has won two WTA tour events and reached a career-high ranking of nine last year before a back injury forced her to take a break from tennis.

She has only played one tournament this year and hence needed a wild card for the Challenger meet.

"I'm glad to start my campaign here and a win here will help me get back my confidence and start my journey to regain my top-10 position," Pektovic said.
