Three persons were injured when a car broke a police barricade here and allegedly tried to run over a police officer.

The incident took place last night when a police team, including the SHO of Sector-29 police station, was patrolling near a shopping mall on M G Road here.

"A CCTV footage shows the SUV with tinted glasses speeding towards the police picket even after policemen indicated it to stop for checking," a senior police officer said.

"The car hit a police vehicle when SHO Vikas Kaushik tried to stop it, injuring three pedestrians including two women who were leaving the mall," the officer said, adding the miscreants then managed to escape.

"All the three injured have been admitted to Civil hospital and they are stated to be out of danger. The SHO also received minor injuries," Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Saharan said.

"We are trying to identity the accused by examining the CCTV footage. The vehicle had Delhi registration number," he said.
