Three students were injured, one of them seriously, when Trinamool Chatro Parishad and ABVP activists clashed at Raniganj College today in Burdwan district.

The clash occurred over filing nomination papers for the ensuing student union elections at Raniganj TDP College, police said.

Of the three injured, Aviram Chaturvedi was admitted to Raniganj Hospital with head injuries, they said.

Personnel of RAF and state police were deployed in the college area.

ABVP college union sources alleged that the three injured belonged to their camp and suffered injuries when they protested against the TMCP diktat not to file nomination papers.

TMCP union sources said that ABVP tried to instigate trouble in the peaceful college compound and assaulted TMCP supporters.
