Three persons were killed and four others injured in separate incidents in Amethi district, police said today.

Ghanshyam Verma (40) of Pure Dhoot under Gauriganj police station was killed when the motorcycle he was riding fell into a ditch near Barnatikar on the Gauriganj-Raebareli road.

Another bike trailing Ghanshyam too fell into the ditch, seriously injuring three persons -- Kavita, Neha and Yuvraj -- said to be relatives of Ghanshyam, police said.

Subsequently, locals blocked traffic on the road demanding action against the construction company which failed to lay the road within the stipulated time.

Following assurances from the administration, the protest was withdrawn.

In another incident, a speeding truck hit a motorcycle near Jamo turn on Raebareli-Jagdishpur-Faizabad national highway, killing the rider, Mashook Ahmad (40) of Palpur under Jagdishpur police station, on the spot and injuring the pillion rider, Shanu, who was admitted to hospital by the local police.

In yet another incident, Ram Lakhan Pal (55) of Karaudi village under Sangrampur police station fell off a mango tree and died on the spot.

All the bodies were sent for post-mortem, police added.
