Three women were killed and two others seriously injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into an express train at an unmanned railway level crossing near here today, police said.
The mishap occurred as the car driver tried to cross the track at Shenbagam, 20 km from here, without noticing the approaching Nagercoil-Bangalore Express.
The vehicle was pulled by the train for more than 200 metres.
The injured persons have been hospitalised, police said adding the train was delayed for more than 45 minutes due to the accident.
