Three persons were killed when an SUV rammed into a stationary truck from behind on NH-5 in Odisha's Jajpur district, the police said today.
The accident occurred near Bandala village under Barachana police station limits when a doctor and a pharmacist were returning to Cuttack from Balasore district after attending a wedding ceremony late last night.
All the three occupants of the vehicle died on the spot, police said.
They are identified as Paresh Kumar Mohapatra, a doctor of a hospital in Cuttack, Rajendra Kumar Samant, a pharmacist and the owner of a pathological lab in Cuttack, and Debadutta Biswal, the driver.
All of them are the residents of Mahanadi Vihar area in Cuttack city.
The police have seized the truck and detained its driver.
