Three persons were killed after a 15 member gang hurled crude bombs and hacked them at nearby Mettupalayam village, police said.
Police said the trio were celebrating Diwali and consuming some liquor last night when the gang arrived at the spot and hurled crude bombs, killing one of them on the spot.
The gang then hacked the other two persons to death and fled the area, police said
Police suspect previous enmity between the deceased and the gang could have been the reason for the crime.
The deceased were reportedly daily wage earners.
