3 killed in explosion in chemical factory

Three workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosionin a chemical factory today near Amattur in this district, police said.

They said that the explosion took place in a private chemical factory when the workers were making aluminum powder from aluminium lump by hitting it.

The aluminium exploded when water from a tap got mixed with it. (usually aluminium explodes when it is mixed with water).

The deceased were identified as K. Sankareswaran(45), V.Malayandi who succumbed on way to hospital and K.Eswaran who died at the hospital in Madudrai.

The condition of another person, Kani Kala Raja (34), was stated to be critical.
 

Amattur police registered a case and are searching for the absconding factory owner. Police said.
