3 killed in Nepal forest fire

At least three persons have been killed and 11 others injured when a forest fire engulfed a village in mountainous northeastern Nepal, officials said today.

The fire destroyed a part of the forest situated in Puma village of Humla district yesterday, they said, adding injured have been admitted to the Nepalgunj Hospital.

The fire prompted the army to launch a rescue operation.

Eleven people were rescued so far, Nepal Army said in a statement. The army has deployed two helicopters to carry out the rescue operation, it said.
