3 killed in road mishap in Uttarakhand

Three persons were killed today when a car they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a 200-foot gorge in Ghansali area of Tehri district, police said.

The incident occurred near Badon village today when the trio was on their way to Ghansali and the driver lost control over the vehicle which skidded off the road and rolled down the gorge, they said.

One Darmiyan Singh (45) died on the spot while Bheem Singh (42), who was driving the car, and Sundar Lal (49), a primary school principal, died during treatment at a hospital, police said.
 

All three of them were residents of Ghansali area, they said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat condoled the death of the trio, an official release said.

The Chief Minister also directed the district magistrate of Tehri to provide financial aid to the victims' family members.
