Three persons were killed and more than 15 others injured in two separate road accidents in the city since last night.

The first incident took place last midnight in Outer Delhi's Rohini area when an SUV, carrying some engineering students, hit a road driver and then crashed into a Sedan coming from the opposite direction.

"A 25-year-old engineering student was killed while eight others including four occupants of the SUV and three of a family who were travelling in the Sedan were injured in the accident," a police officer said today.

The deceased has been identified as Askshat Sharma. He was returning from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Rohini where he and his fellow travellers -- Jatin, Sahil, Kuldeep and Harshit -- studied. All four were B.Tech students.

Police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence at the Begumpur police station.

The second accident took place in North Delhi's Kotwali area in which two men were killed and seven others injured when a speeding Ford Figo jumped the red light and rammed into a Maruti Suzuki Omni.

The impact was so forceful that the Omni flipped several times and crashed into another car which was passing through a side lane. "Two men, identified as Manoj and Pradeep, who were sitting in the Omni car succumbed to head injuries they had suffered in the accident," another police officer said.

A case of rash driving, death due to negligence and endangering life has been registered against the driver of the Ford Figo at Kotwali police station, the officer added.
