Three members of the LTTE, including a woman, were today sentenced by a Sri Lankan court for bombing a passenger train in 1996 that left 58 people killed.
High Court judge Kumuduni Wickramasinghe sentenced two of the accused to ten years rigorous imprisonment while the third was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment, Daily Mirror newspaper reported today.
The Tamil rebels, Robert Maxillan, Saveri Muttu Loganathan and Thirumagal alias Ramani, pleaded guilty to the charge of having conspired to explode a bomb on a crowded passenger train at Dehiwala, a Colombo suburb, on July 27, 1996 that killed 58 and injured 270.
