With the arrest of three members of a gang, police today claimed to have averted a major dacoity in Jagannath Prasad area in Odisha's Ganjam district.
The three of the 5-member gang were arrested near Munida Hill on Karachuli-Chadeiyapada Road under Jagannathpur police station limit this morning while they were plotting a major crime in the area, Inspector-in-charge of Jagannath Prasad police station S K Sethy said.
A country-made pistol, some rounds of ammunition, four bombs, two magazines, a sword and a motorcycle were seized from the trio, identified as Shankar Nayak, Bhagaban Nayak and Dhoba Nayak of Begunia village, the officer said.
However, two other members of the gang escaped and efforts are on to nab them.
