3 militants arrested

Three militantrs of two different organisations were arrested by security forces in Manipur's Imphal West and Bishenpur districts in last two days, a police release said today.

A Kanglei Yawaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) activist was arrested from Mongshangei area during search operation.

The arrested activist was identified as Huirongbam Surjit Meitei (29) of Mongshangei Lai Leirak of Imphal West district.

He was invloved in extortion and collected huge amount of money from general public and government employees of Imphal area for party fund.

Two other cadre of Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested by a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos, 12 Bihar regiment and 7 Assam Rifles from Kodompakpi Mamang Leikai area during the search operation.
 

The arrested person was identified as Namoijam Jemkanta Singh of Ningombam Makha Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol along with three rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession, sources said.

A combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and 6 Assam Rifles conducted search operation at Moirang Khunou area, during the operation, a self style Sergeant Major of PLA was arrested from Moirang Khunou area.

One 9 mm pistol along with two live rounds were seized from his possession, the release said.
