3 militants arrested in raid in Pakistan

Three militants from the banned Pakistani Taliban were today arrested in a raid in the country's restive northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Acting on tip off, Counter Terrorism Department personnel carried out an anti-terrorism raid in Badabair area on the outskirts of Peshawar and arrested three important commanders of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Senior Superintendent Police Operations Mian Saeed said that three militant commanders are Naseer, Hazrat Sher and Zarma Khan.

"All three belong to a banned outfit operating from Khyber Agency. Two hand grenades, a pistol and a sub-machine gun were recovered from the trio," said Saeed.

In a separate incident, Officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad nabbed a wanted terrorist Ghazi Akbar from Matta area of Swat valley during a search operation.
 

The accused, who ATS officials claim was a wanted for his involvement in a number of attacks on security forces, has been shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation.
