3 more held for forcing minor girl into flesh trade

Three more persons, including two women, were today arrested by the Crime Branch CID of Tamil Nadu Police in connection with the case related to forcing a minor girl here into prostitution, taking the total detentions to ten.

The two women had allegedly compelled the girl to indulge in prostitution against her will, after being advised by an astrologer and the girl's mother, who have already been arrested, an official release said.

The teenaged girl was taken to public places like bus stands, railway stations to lure men by these women.

A man arrested today has been charged with rape of the girl when she was staying alone, the release said adding all the three were remanded to judicial custody by a court here.
 

"In this case, the newly introduced Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and recently inserted Section 370(3) of the IPC, in connection with trafficking victims for prostitution were included," it said.

Immediately after registering a case, the Anti-Trafficking Cell of the CBCID had arrested the astrologer and the girl's mother last month and another five later.

The girl's plight came to light after she managed to escape and reached Tirupati, where Andhra Pradesh police rescued her and sent her to Chennai.
