Three more persons were today arrested in connection with yesterday's rampage inside a housing complex in south Kolkata following a youth's death in a car-bike accident, taking the total number of arrests to 11.

Probing into the incident, an officer with the Kolkata Police said the owner of the Mercedes E-250 involved in the accident killing Avijit Pandey has been identified as a resident of Dhakuria and the registration was under a company at AJC Bose Road.

"We will be taking action as per law. We are collecting evidences from the spot and footages of the CCTVs at the complex as well as from the locality," he said.

Yesterday at around 2.55 AM a collision took place between a scooter and the Mercedes on Hazra Road injuring three riders.

While rider Avijit Pandey died at the hospital, pillion riders - Ramdev Yadav (22) and Mithilesh Yadav (25) were discharged after treatment.

Assuming that the Mercedes has gone inside the residential building, over 120-150 locals barged into the premises and went on rampaging nearly 70 vehicles inside the parking lot of the residential complex on Panditia Road.

Eight persons arrested in connection with the rampage have been remanded to police custody with charges under sections dealing with unlawful assembly, rioting, damaging government property and stealing, the officer said.
