3 more swine flu cases in Himachal, total reaches 15

Three more cases of swine flu were reported in Himachal Pradesh today raising the number of those affected by H1N1 virus to 15, a Health Department official said.

Two new cases of H1N1 virus were reported at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital at Tanda town in Kangra while one case was reported from Una, State Surveillance Officer Rajesh Guleri said.

It has already claimed two lives in Himachal Pradesh. One patient from Solan and another from a village near Palampur died at IGMC Hospital in Shimla and Tanda Medical College, Kangra.

So far 55 blood samples of patients with suspected swine flu symptoms have been tested and 15 out of them tested positive.
 

The state government has made additional arrangements for prompt testing of blood samples and an official claimed that test reports would now be available within three to six hours.

The Indian Council of Medical Research has agreed to set up central virology laboratories in the state for detection of swine flu and other related diseases and a provision of Rs 5 crore has been made which would go a long way in prompt detection of swine flu cases, an official release said.
