The State Vigilance directorate today registered three cases against ten persons, including two OAS officers, in connection with multiple allotments of plots, lands and houses under Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC

The cases were registered as per the modalities for implementation of the recommendations of the 'Taskforce' in connection with multiple allotments under BDA, Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB), said a release issued by the vigilance directorate here yesterday.

The Taskforce headed by senior IAS officer Dr Taradutt had last year suggested to the State government for cancellation of nearly 2,000 allotments of plots and houses by the BDA, CDA and OSHB under discretionary quota, which were made since January 1995 on the basis of false declarations in affidavits.

In October last year, the vigilance directorate had registered five cases booking at least ten government officials and five beneficiaries in which investigations are on. The CDA, BDA and OSHB have initiated individual enquiries against the beneficiaries of multiple allotments.

The matter was handed over to the vigilance for investigation and necessary action amid demands by various fora to hand over the matter to CBI.

The Orissa High Court too is currently adjudicating over a petition that seeks CBI enquiry in the case.
