3 nabbed for betting on IPL in Faridabad

Three persons were arrested by the Crime Branch sleuths on charges of betting during the IPL cricket matches in Sector-30 here, police said today.

The accused were nabbed yesterday the office of Bajrang Properties in sector-16 Faridabad when they were betting online on the IPL match to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, police said.

One laptop and eight mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.

The accused Sonu alias Sunil, Saurabh and Rakesh are all residents of Faridabad, they said.

The team of crime branch led by inspector Narendra Chauhan raided on the premises, on the basis of a tip off, when the betting was in process.
 

A case has been registered under provisions of section 13, 3 and 67 of gambling act and section 420 of IPC.

All three accused were today produced in court and were remanded to one day police custody, Chauhan said.

Police is expecting to elicit more information and names on illegal betting once the interrogation was completed, he added.
