3 nabbed for possessing illicit liquor

Three persons have been arrested for allegedly possessing and supplying illicit liquor in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

Two bootleggers, Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Nepal, and Shaloo, were arrested yesterday on specific information and 144 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, having market value of Rs 50,400, were recovered from their possession, a police spokesperson said.

On the basis of inputs provided by the duo, Kancha Kalay was arrested from Drass for allegedly supplying the liquor, he said.

Kalay is a resident of Nepal and he was working as a labourer in Drass, he said.
 

A case has been registered at the Drass police station, he said, adding that three such cases have already been registered in the station.

Meanwhile, two other persons working as scrap dealers were arrested with 800 metres stolen copper cable wire weighing 30 kg from Kargil, the spokesperson said.

Tuntun Prasad, a resident of Bihar, and Vijay Kumar, a resident of Rajouri, have been taken into custody and a case has been registered against them, he said.
