3 narcotic smugglers arrested with heroin in Jammu

Three "narcotic smugglers" were arrested here for allegedly possessing heroin worth Rs 3.76 lakh, police said today.

"Three narcotic smugglers were along with heroin worth Rs 3.76 lakh from Shastri Nagar Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station yesterday," SP South Shaazad Salaria said.

They were arrested during a routine checking of a Maruti 800 car by Police at Shastri Nagar Chowk near Cremation ground.

Three separate packets containing 47 grams heroin along with silver foils were recovered from the possession of three persons traveling in the car, he added.

The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar alias Chuchu, Anil Kumar alias Johny amd Amandeep Singh alias Gourav of R S Pura tehsil of Jammu district, he added.
 

Officer said that the smugglers are selling heroin to youths particularly students, including girls.

A case has been registered against the narcotic smugglers at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation is underway, he added.
