The police said Tapas Mukherjee (60), his wife Shree Mukherjee (55) and their daughter-in-law Tapasi Mukherjee (33) died when their speeding car driven by his son Tambak Mukherjee lost control and hit the truck at Khano More this afternoon.
Tapas Mukherjee died on the spot. His wife and daughter-in-law died later in Burdwan Medical College and Hospital.
His son Tambak was admitted in the hospital in a critically injured condition, the police said.
The family was coming from Serampore but their destination is still unknown, the police said.
