Punjab Irrigation Department today forcibly retired an Executive Engineer (XEN), a Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) and a Ziledar, other than dismissing two SDOs for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices including taking bribes, an official spokesperson said.

XEN Balihar Singh Kataria, SDO Taranjit Singh and Ziledar Rajinder Singh have been forcibly retired. SDOs Kulwant Singh and Satpal Singh have been dismissed from service, the official said here.

The Department also ordered a 10 per cent deduction in the pension of the three recently retired Chief Engineers, one Superintending Engineer and four XENs, the spokesman said.

The 10 per cent deduction has been levied on the pensions of recently retired Chief Engineers Sukhjinder Singh, Jarnail Singh and R K Goel, the spokesman said.

The same cut has also been levied on the pension of Superintending Engineer Kuldip Singh Bhathal, and those of XEN Gurmel Singh, Satish Kumar Bansal and Rakesh Anand.

Action has also been taken against a Chief Engineer, whose one year increment has been stopped.

All the pending inquiries would be completed in a time-bound manner so that action can be taken against those bringing bad name to the Irrigation department, the official said.
