3 sailors missing after two barges sink in Arabian sea

Three sailors went missing after two barges sank in the Arabian Sea off Jakhau coast here amid rough weather, a Coast Guard official said today.

Most of the sailors on board the barges - Seepal and Somiya - were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard, expect three who are still missing.

"The barges, which were offloading salt from one to another, sank in the sea off Jakhau coast in Kutch district at around midnight yesterday due to the rough seas," he said.

"When we received the call for help, we rushed to the spot and saved most of the sailors, out of total 22 present on the two barges," the official added.
 

"However, three sailors are missing and search operation is on to trace them," he said.

The rescued sailors were later brought to the coast, said the official.
