3 witnesses declared hostile in case against Kanchi seer

Three prosecution witnesses in an attempt to murder case, in which Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi is the prime accused, were today declared hostile by a court here after they retracted from their earlier statements to police.

Accepting a plea of Additional Public Prosecutor, First Additional Sessions Court In-charge Judge Sengottayan declared the three as hostile witnesses in the case related to the attack on auditor Radhakrishan and two others in his house here in 2002.

During the cross-examination, the three witnesses autorickshaw driver Kutti alias Mohan, G Vaidhyanathan and one N Subramaniam retracted from their respective statements they had recorded with the police.
 

The prosecution case is that the Sankaracharya arranged some persons to attack the auditor since he was writting several critical letters about him under a pseudo name.
